“I attended today, 23/5/26, with my son who has ASD and ADHD, and it was exactly what I had been looking for. It wasn't too busy for him; he felt instantly calm and happy and interacted with the other children, which was brilliant. Megan, who runs it, was exceptional with all the children. The time and effort which she has put into these sessions to ensure each child felt included, heard, and safe was amazing. To have a space where someone gives the utmost attention to children and goes above and beyond to ensure that there is something for every child is exactly what every parent of a child with ASD and ADHD is looking for. Absolutely amazing space for children. Run by Meg, who’s truly fantastic with the children. Her sole purpose is to give our children a safe, inclusive haven to play and establish friendships and a sense of community. My son loves these sessions; he looks forward to them. You truly will not be disappointed; if anything, you will see just how much our town needs a space like this where we parents can sit back and know our children are safe and the person running it goes to each and every child and engages with them, speaks to them, and actually listens to their feelings, thoughts, and needs. Please book if you are considering it. These sessions really aren’t to be missed.
Up until your sessions Brody hadn't tried things like the spinning chair, the peanut, or the climbing frame, and it is expensive to buy something you aren't sure they will use. But in your sessions he goes around every section of the room and doesn't know what to play with first. Until usually the wiggle car takes over Also I absolutely love seeing him so happy in all your photos He has been counting down to the next session since we left the last one. Thank you for all your hard work and effort for our children.
My son has both ASD & ADHD. I had been very dubious and nervous about taking him to any similar groups. However, I gave this group a try, and honestly, my son loved it. He settled right in straight away and didn't want to leave. His words after the first session were "Best day ever." That for me spoke volumes. The group was so inclusive, and there were various toys and pieces of equipment for all the children to use. It was the first time for my son to use some of the Sen equipment, a "try before you buy," if you will. Meg, the lady who runs the sessions, is such a lovely person and moves around the room, spending time with all the children, giving you the opportunity to sit and have a chat with other parents. What she is doing for our children to feel happy and included is wonderful, and she deserves all the support she can get. I for one have booked all the sessions up until October.
My daughter had the best time when she came last Saturday. I'm booking again for the next session. It’s so hard trying to find safe and inclusive sessions for my daughter with ALN.
Sessions like this are wonderful and fun for my daughter and also so supportive for us as parents. Meg has been so fantastic with communication about these sessions and has gotten back straight away. I really hope you do well.
These sessions are fantastic. It's lovely to see the children doing what they want to do. It's really nice that the adults get to know other people in similar circumstances. Megan is the ideal person to run these sessions. She is calm, has good knowledge of the children's needs, and you can see she loves to interact with all the children. It's lovely seeing returning children and their adults, and there is what I would describe as a beautiful family environment. We love seeing new children too, and Megan makes them feel so welcome. I really hope these sessions continue as they have been, as Megan has and is working so, so hard to make a success out of these fun play sessions.

We provide calm, inclusive sensory play sessions designed to support children with additional needs, including SEN and ASD, as well as early years children who benefit from child-led sensory exploration.
Our sessions are carefully created to offer a safe and supportive environment where children can engage at their own pace. We focus on reducing overwhelm and encouraging comfort, curiosity, and self-regulation through sensory-based play.
Every session is child-led and flexible, allowing each child to participate in a way that feels right for them. We understand that every child experiences the world differently, and our approach is built around respect, patience, and accessibility.
Our aim is simple: to create a space where families feel understood, a place for parents and children to connect, and for the children to feel safe enough to explore, regulate, and grow.

Sensory play supports children in developing key skills such as regulation, attention, motor coordination, and emotional awareness. For many SEN and ASD children, it also provides a safe way to process sensory input in a controlled and supportive setting.
By offering a carefully curated environment, we aim to help children feel more grounded and secure while exploring the world around them.

We recognise that attending new spaces can sometimes feel overwhelming for both children and parents. Our sessions are designed to be welcoming, understanding, and pressure-free.
Parents and carers remain responsible for their children at all times and are encouraged to support their child in whichever way feels most appropriate during the session. We are always available to offer guidance, but we respect each family’s individual approach.

Hi, I'm Megan-Jade, the founder of Playful Roots.
I am a SEN Teaching Assistant working in a local ASD Teaching Facility. I hold a degree in Children's Psychology and Counselling and have a strong passion for creating inclusive opportunities for children and families across Carmarthenshire.
My passion for sensory play and inclusion comes from both my professional and personal experiences. I am currently undergoing assessment for Autism and ADHD myself, and I also have close family members, friends, and their children who have diagnoses of Autism and other additional needs. These experiences have given me a deeper understanding of the importance of safe, welcoming environments where children can be themselves without judgement or pressure.
Playful Roots was created with the aim of providing calm, inclusive sensory play sessions where every child feels valued, supported, and free to explore in their own way. My goal is to help make Carmarthenshire a place where all families can access opportunities that celebrate neurodiversity and inclusion.
