Playful Roots was created from a simple belief: every child deserves a place where they feel accepted, understood, and free to play.

As a teaching assistant working in an autism teaching facility, I see every day how important sensory play, inclusive environments, and child-led exploration are for children's development and well-being. I wanted to create a space where families could enjoy these experiences together in a relaxed, welcoming environment without judgment.

What started as a small idea has grown into a community of wonderful families who share our passion for inclusive play.

Our Mission

At Playful Roots, our mission is to create safe, affordable, and inclusive sensory play experiences where children of all abilities can explore, learn, and have fun at their own pace.

We believe play should be accessible to everyone, and we're committed to supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), additional learning needs (ALN), sensory processing differences, and disabilities, while welcoming every family into our sessions.

Looking to the Future

Playful Roots is just at the beginning.

Our dream is to create a dedicated sensory play and wellbeing centre in Llanelli, providing a permanent, inclusive space for children and families to enjoy throughout the year.

As we grow, we hope to expand our services to include the following:

Built with Love

Although Playful Roots was founded by me, it simply wouldn't exist without the incredible support of my family, friends, and volunteers.

Every session starts long before our families arrive. Each event means packing my car full of sensory equipment, messy play resources, toys, and activities before transporting everything to the venue and transforming an empty hall into a welcoming sensory play space.

Behind the scenes, our amazing volunteers help prepare refreshments, set up activities, greet families, tidy away afterwards, and make sure every session runs smoothly. Their generosity, encouragement, and willingness to lend a hand mean the world to me.

Playful Roots is built with love, teamwork, and a shared passion for creating something special for local children and families, and I couldn't do it without them.
